About Us

Our Story

The Outdoor Adventure Medicine Institute began amongst the alpine peaks in the Tahoe basin. In 2019, Dr. Jenevieve Peecher was teaching Wilderness First Responder courses in Stateline Nevada, when she taught Andrew Michalik, the company’s Chief Operating Officer. Together, they saw a dream of leading people through the backcountry and across the globe, teaching Wilderness Emergency Medicine. Their vision was to create a healthy environment for students to feel comfortable to be vulnerable through their learning process. Since starting this business, Andrew and Jen have moved from the Lake Tahoe region and expanded into different areas of the United States.

OAMI In The Southeast

Dr. Peecher has set strong roots throughout the Southeast, where her team teaches a variety of first responder and wilderness courses. Through the lush forests of Appalachia to the Gulf Coasts of Florida to South Carolina, their versatile program adapts to serve those working or recreating in all environments.

OAMI In The Intermountain West

Andrew and his team in Utah have grown since their beginning in 2021 across the intermountain west region. From the chromatic canyons of the Southwest deserts to the high peaks of the Rockies, the West branch helps learners understand the challenges that remote mountain regions bring to wilderness care.

Two Branches, One Vision

Together, these branches are continuing to establish an impressive presence in the emergency and wilderness medical education industry. Their goals are to continue expanding their scope in region, ecosystem, and class type to best serve as many populations as they can.

Our Vision Is...

To be a global leader in wilderness medicine and outdoor adventure, setting the standard for excellence in safety, education, and emergency response services. We envision a world where everyone can confidently enjoy the wonders of nature while respecting and preserving the environment.

Committed To Our Cause

Coming together from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences, our skilled team is the backbone of OAMI. Their ideas help shape the direction and mission of our outdoor adventure and training company as it continues to mature and grow.
